                                              WSC Swim Club Rules

All members and guests using Westminster Swim Club facilities do so at their own risk. Westminster assumes no responsibility for anyone using the facilities and will not be responsible for accidents or incidents in connection with such use.

Supervised Swimming/Child Safety

  •  Swimming is not permitted unless a lifeguard is on duty.  Everyone must heed the lifeguard’s instructions.  

  •  Lifeguards do not supervise the wading pool.  Parents/Guardians must supervise children inside the wading pool enclosure at all times. 

  • Children under the age of 10 are not allowed in the Club without a parent or guardian present.  

  • Parents and guardians are responsible for their children at all times.  While Lifeguards are on duty for safety and emergencies, they are not expected to babysit or manage children.  

  • Parents/Guardians are to be in the larger pool, within arms reach of children who cannot pass a basic swim test

Flotation Devices

  • Swimming assist devices are permitted in the pool, however, parents/guardians are to be in the water, within arm’s reach of children using such devices.  These devices, while helpful, can give children a false sense of security.  

  • No flotation devices shall be permitted on the diving board or in the diving well.

  • Rafts are permitted in the pool during designated raft nights only.  During those times, only single person rafts and inner tubes are permitted for use.  Oversized rafts are not permitted.

 

Conduct

  • WSC is a safe, family-friendly environment and we will not tolerate bullying or other unacceptable behavior.  If a member-child is observed bullying, hitting or any other unacceptable behavior anywhere on Club grounds, the incident will be reported to the parents, with only ONE warning, and further inappropriate behavior will result in action (i.e. suspension).  

  • If a non-member child/guest is observed engaging in unacceptable behavior, they will be expelled from the Club immediately. 

  • No running, pushing, or roughhousing

  • No abusive, profane, or otherwise offensive language shall be permitted on Club premises.


Lifeguards

  • Unnecessary conversation with Lifeguards, while on duty, is prohibited.  The lifeguards’ attention must be on the people in the water and around the pool.

Food/Alcohol

  • No food or drinks are allowed in the water.  

  • Patrons are expected to clean up their trash throughout the day and before they leave.  If a spill of food or liquid occurs, please inform a lifeguard in the office if help is needed cleaning up.  

  • Alcoholic beverages are to be consumed responsibly.  Please use non-labeled cups or koozies so cans/labels are not visible.

  • Any person suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited from entering the water.  Patrons that are visibly intoxicated may be asked to leave the pool grounds.  

  • Glass containers of any kind are not permitted on the Club premises.

Smoking/Pets/Gum/Dress

  • Smoking is not permitted inside the Club, including e-cigarettes and other vapor producing devices. Please do not smoke at or near the Club entrance, including near the bike racks. 

  •  Pets and chewing gum are not allowed inside the Club 

  • Cut-offs or other street clothes are not permitted in the water.

Diving Board/Diving Well

  • One person at a time is allowed on the diving board.  Please wait until the previous diver reaches the ladder before jumping from the board.  Children who cannot pass a basic swim test are not allowed to jump from the board.  

  • Only experienced divers should be doing flips and/ back dives. Lifeguards have the authority to prevent someone from continuing back dives and flips.

  • The diving well (deep end) is closed to free-play when the diving board is in use.  The Lifeguard on duty will direct whether or not the diving board is open or closed to diving. 

  • Diving is not permitted from the side of the pool where depth is 5 feet or less. 

Diapers

  • Diapered children must wear appropriate swim diapers and a swimsuit in all pools. Please do not allow your children in either pool with regular, disposable diapers.  To avoid potential problems, diapers made only for swimming are required. 

 

Cleanliness/Injuries

  • Any person having a communicable disease or infection may not use the pool. 

  • Injuries, however slight, must be reported to the Lifeguard on duty. 

  • It is advised that all persons take a shower before entering or re-entering the pool. 

  • Trash containers, recycling containers and toilet facilities are provided and should be used.

 

Drones

  • The use of drones on or over the entire Club grounds is forbidden.

Admission

  • The Club staff will only admit members of the Club upon verification of their active member status as determined by checking the membership card at the entranceAdmission

 

Guests

  • All guests must sign in and be accompanied by a current WSC Member.  A member is responsible for the actions of his/her guests and for his/her guests knowing the pool rules.

  • Guest fees are $5.00 per visit.  Each guest is limited to 10 visits per season. 

 

Please feel free to discuss any issues or concerns with the Pool Manager first, and then with any WSC Board Member as needed.
